No "dead people" voted in elections - you GET AUTOMATICALLY REREGISTERED each year in your district...?

Some polling stations are not particularly sophisticated and from personal experience I know how chaotic and disorganized they can be, when trying to vote and being told that I had already voted when in fact I hadn't. Consulting the huge computer printout using a magnifying glass and a ruler it was discovered that the elections officer must have lined through the wrong name when another person voted. I asked if they checked voter registration cards and was told the precinct "didn't need them" and asked if they needed to see picture ID and they said no. They told me I couldn't vote because I already had, I refused to leave and told them to get someone in to shut the voting station down due to election irregularities and, that someone had voted in my name. They "let" me vote but weren't happy about it. To sum up, irregularities happen and on what scale we just don't know. I did not vote twice but, I would wager someone else did.
