Need help with job title on resume - current title does not reflect my duties?

I would think that an employer offering you a new position is going to want to verify your work experience with current employer at some point, ,so you had best be honest. You can explain the actual nature of your work with the company at the interview and in the resume, but if they want to verify the information, you don't want a discrepency to keep you from getting the job.
